Referred to as "Sully" throughout my youth, I contemplated using it as an "on-air" name. Needless to say this never happened, but it's still fun to mention and there's still time! As a graduate of the University of Montana, I first ventured my way onto the air waves as a television reporter. Not long after, I dove into the radio industry. I enjoy media as a career and the potential it has to inform and support the community. Other than consume comfort food nightly, I do have some hobbies. I'm a huge fan of forensic documentaries, chick flicks and mobster movies (I don't understand the combination, either) Plus, I love concerts! Rock, country, jazz, classical, reggae, alternative, electronic, R&B, hip-hop, rap, folk...pick the genre and I'm there! I especially love outdoor concerts and another great love I have of the outdoors, involves long walks with my incredible dog and the occasional human. For many years now, I have tested the waters as a performer in live, local theatre, and whether it be studio artwork, ballet, jazz or modern dance, I'm a big supporter of the arts. As for sports and no matter the level, I'm a huge fan of basketball, track & field and baseball. Any or all of the above, of course, is only important and possible with the bond of family and friends. Here's to those special bonds for everyone.

It’s Confirmed; A Plan is in Place for The World Museum of Mining this April
Just yesterday, I posted an article about the fate of the World Museum of Mining's Opening Day. The original plan was for organizers to unveil another awe-inspiring season of Butte's nostalgia to the public beginning April 1st! Well, just announced this afternoon some of that plan remains in place, but with a few twists and turns. While the museum gift shop and some underground tours will still open on the FIRST of next month, the museum grounds will NOT open until April 20th. Well, that's as long as winter doesn't overstay its welcome as much as it already has. Unprecedented amounts of snow on the premise led to the decision not to open the outside area of the museum as initially planned.
Dog Breeds that Can Withstand Montana Winters
The way Rocko behaves after being outside for a short period in the cold indicates that his Kelpie "down under" side is more prominent than his Canadian side. What was interesting to me while briefly taking Rocko for a walk this morning was how two neighborhood dogs we encountered along the way didn't seem one bit bothered or fazed by the extreme cold weather. They were clearly huskies of some kind who relaxingly laid in the snow like it was no big deal. While on the contrary, Rocko started to act like his paws were hurting and ready to fall off. This was a clear indication that it was way too cold for him to be out in the elements, so we high-tailed it to the house.
Innovative Ways to Rescue Perishable Valentine’s Gifts
After you've inhaled more chocolate and candy than you can stand, incorporate them into cookie and cake recipes for your kiddo's classmates, school functions, or as a housewarming gift for friends and relatives that still talk to you. As for those beautiful roses your sweetheart gave you for Valentine's Day, when they are about to lose their luster, take each flower and hang them upside down on a hanger with either floral tape, string, or clothes pins wrapped around the stem of the flower and the hanger. Allow them to dry upside down on the hangers for a few days. From there, take the newly created "dried flowers" off the hangers and arrange them in a vase. You can also dip or brush them in lacquer or epoxy (dry overnight in a can or glass) to create a bouquet in an antique kettle or other hip contraptions for display. The possibilities are endless, as many people like to press Valentine's flowers between books as keepsakes, too. Use your imagination with other Valentine's gifts or any perishable presents throughout the year!
Stay Out of the Doghouse; Head to Georgetown Lake for V-DAY
A trip to Georgetown Lake for dinner and other activities is an excellent idea for the whole family. Now, when it comes to Valentine's Day on Tuesday or leading into next weekend, make Georgetown a destination exclusively for you and your sweetheart. If you can swing the day off on February 14th, take your sweetie for a full or half day of skiing at Discovery Ski Area (180 Discovery Basin Rd, Anaconda). Plus, for avid snowmobilers, enduring the many groomed trails around Georgetown Lake with that special someone and other couples (recommended) is always exhilarating!

A Montana Teen’s Transition from Cassette Tapes to CDs Back in the Day
As time went on, and by the late-80s, my friends and I were ready to ditch our cassette tapes and move on like the rest of the world. By then, many scrambled to buy portable CD players, plus state-of-the-art CD consoles and stereos for their cars and homes. So, when was the first time you bought a music CD, and what one was it? Here are some fun facts as presented by Discogs and Kodak Digitalizing. The band ABBA and musician Billy Joel were the first pop/rock artists to release CDs. ABBA released their 1981 album Visitors on CD in Europe a year later, and Billy Joel released his album 52nd Street in Japan that same year. However, the first commercial CD released in early 1982 was a classical rendition of Chopin Waltzes by Claudio Arrau. The United States finally got a piece of the compact disc pie when Bruce Springsteen released Born in the USA in September of 1984. No doubt the world of technology continues to change, but regardless of how many different devices we've played our favorite music on over the years, one thing is for certain: "The Song Remains the Same". Hmm, yet another great CD!....oh, and cassette...and download...
