Yes, I know I look like an idiot, but I found The Metaverse actually helped me get through a long Montana Winter. A couple years ago I bought the headset for my son. At the time he was very much into video games and It wasn't nearly as expensive as other video game systems. I was not aware that it was a Facebook product when we bought it, it wasn't until about a year later that I found that out.

We love outdoors.

Here in Montana we love the outdoors. Everything from hiking, skiing, fishing, snowboarding, the list literally goes on and on. Not everyone can partake or enjoy all of the outdoor activities that our incredible state has to offer, including myself lately. The past couple years I have had knee issues. As I have tried to avoid surgery as much as I could, I have had to curtail my snowboarding  and outdoor activities in the winter.

What if you can't get outdoors

Not being able to get on the mountains for a couple winters, made the season that much longer. Not to mention I wasn't getting much exercise. Also in Western Montana when you have an inversion and you don't see the sun for weeks at a time it can be depressing. My son suggested I try out his Oculus, so I did. I found an exercising app and off I went. I found myself in Virtual Reality. It was amazing. Next thing you know I am in the Highlands of Scotland listening to music and working out. I even worked up a sweat. I tried to work out a couple times a week, something I haven't been able to do for a few years. The more I used it the more I looked forward to it.

It can help

On a grey, cold winter day in Montana, I can put on the headset and I can instantly be on a warm, tropical island working up a sweat. I find myself these days using the headset more than my son does. It is one of the first times in my life that I look forward to working out. I am by no means addicted to the virtual world and I have only explored a fraction of what they have to offer, but I can tell you it has worked well for me for exercise and light therapy. I can also tell you this isn't an advertisement for Facebook or for the Meta Verse. If you find yourself not able to get out and about like you used to, maybe you can find a place in the Virtual World where you can get some sun and exercise and maybe that can help you get through our long Montana winters.
