New Montana Music Festival Debuts This September
If you attended Rockin’ the Rivers in the past couple of years, you probably noticed it wasn’t like it used to be. The crowds were smaller, the lineup was OKAY, and that old spark sort of fizzled. Well, guess what?
It’s moving. And it’s getting a new name.
It’s farewell, Three Forks, and hello, Lincoln, Montana. That is where the festival is going for the full reboot treatment as Rockin’ the Rockies. Same vibe, new stage, and some fresh air that might finally restore the energy to where it all started.
The new dates are September 5th and 6th. Also, a Thursday night kickoff party on September 4th. For the early arriving, loud pre-gaming type that gets started even before the event itself starts.
No word yet on the lineup, but they’re saying they’ll host 14 bands, as well as a weekend of camping, food, vendors, and all the other things we loved about Rockin’ the Rivers, minus the dust clouds and parking wars.
The NEW Spot?
Now, it’s all taking place at Grantier Ranch, just south of Lincoln. It has mountain views, wide open spaces, and room to actually stretch out and have some fun. If you’ve been elbow to elbow trying to find a place to pitch a tent in Three Forks, this is beginning to sound like an upgrade.
And, truth be told, this may be somewhat of a reset button the festival needed. A new venue, a new name, and the kind of late-summer lineup announcement that’s going to have a lot of people very excited.
We’ll update once the bands are announced, but if you are hoping to be a part of the new generation, you should be planning now.
