The Voice of the Griz, Riley Corocran, and I drafted the best college team names on a recent episode of The Daily Drive with Ace Sauerwein.

We called it the "Starting 5: Best College Team Names." We went back and forth, drafting our favorite team names, and came up with the lists below.

Let us know who drafted the better squad.

Riley's Starting 5: Best NCAA Team Names

1. Maine Black Bears

Kin to our good friends, the grizzly bears, Corcoran selected the Maine Black Bears as his favorite NCAA Team Name.

2. Wichita State Shockers

It's a great team name for a school located in America's heartland. We love all those corn harvesters.

3. Albany Great Danes

There are so many dog team names (Huskies, Bulldogs, Terriers, Retrievers) but none may be better than the Great Dane. Unique to the max.

4. Akron Zips

The Zips were originally named the Zippers based on a shoe made by the B.F. Goodrich Co in Akron. It's unique, there's a local tie, and Zips just flat out rocks.

5. Western Illinois Leathernecks

It's so interesting and cool that Western Illinois rocks the 'Leathernecks' nickname in honor of the U.S. Marine Corps. There's great history there, it's a cool-sounding name and very unique.

Ace's Starting 5: Best NCAA Team Names

1. Florida Gators

It's unique and iconic. What more could you ask for?

2. Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns

Speakin' of unique, how about the Ragin' Cajuns? It's also got that strong tie to the Bayou.

3. Arizona State Sun Devils

A perfect name for a team located in Tempe, Arizona.

4. Nebraska Cornhuskers

Similar to the Shockers, what a cool name for a team located in the breadbasket. It's also a goofy name for a sports team, but I love it.
