Missoula Gets Special Shout Out in the New York Post for National List of Best Sandwiches
It's not much of a secret that Missoula has amazing sandwiches.
The Cuban or Whoppa at Worden's, the Doc Holiday at Doc's Sandwich Shop, the Fruity Bird at Market on Front--maybe it's because we're a University town, but we have some fine sandwiches and sandwich shops.
One shop is not only a favorite among locals, but it was named the best deli in Montana by the Food Network. We're talking about Tagliare Delicatessen.
We're partial to the sandwich names because of the classic rock influence, but they are some of the best sandwiches around, with interesting ingredients like fig and walnut chutney, caper cream cheese, and Italian meats: hot soppressata, mortadella, and prosciutto.
But we're not the only ones who think so.

The article from the New York Post shared the list of the best sandwiches in every state according to Yelp. As they previewed the list, they talked about an Italian sandwich shop in Queens, then immediately pivoted to our very own Tagliare Delicatessen saying "...Missoula wins the hearts of the locals with prosciutto and fig jam sandwiches on freshly-baked bread..." then talked about a sandwich shop in Chicago.
A Missoula sandwich shop in virtually the same breath as New York and Chicago?! Wow.
Reading reviews from Yelp users you'll see visitors to Missoula say it's their "go-to" spot. One said it had been recommended to him by New Jerseyans. But locals will also review Tagliare by listing their favorite sandwiches, saying it's "the best", "great," and "excellent."
So maybe it's not a surprise that the New York Post would name-check it, after all.
