When I was younger the thought of running away and joining the circus was attractive to me. The travel, the entertainment, the excitement all appealed to me. I honestly thought about it, so much so that I learned how to juggle and do magic tricks. It was never something that I deep down believed would happen, but I was ready just in case. I never got far enough for a pair of tights or sequins.

The Circus is Coming to Stevensville Montana

Even though, for me, the thought of joining the circus may be long gone, there are still people who live and work in traveling circuses. The Culpepper & Merriweather Great Combined Circus is one such circus and they are coming to Western Montana for a performance in Stevensville, Montana. This event is sponsored by the Stevensville Civic Club, who is responsible for the historic Creamery Picnic which will be held in Stevensville on August 2nd and 3rd, 2024.

There are two shows scheduled on Friday June 21st, 2024 at 5:00p and 7:30p at Lewis & Clark Park. The Culpepper & Merriweather Circus is designed for families of all ages, from kids to adults. They feature "high flying aerialists", a trapeze artist, clown and big cats.

The "Big Cats" of the Circus

The big cats, Delilah and Solomon are Golden Tabby Tigers, there is also Wendell who is a lion. You can read more about the animals and their act here. Because this circus has animals as part of their act, they wouldn't be able to perform in Missoula.

Since 2015, Missoula doesn't allow "Wild and Exotic Animals" as part of circus acts anymore. You can still see a circus in Western Montana, you will just need to travel to enjoy the "fun for the entire family".
