When it comes to fast food restaurants, I wouldn't consider myself an expert, more of a fan. I have eaten at my fair share of them and will continue to do so. Of course, I have my favorites. Usually it is the one with the shortest line, especially when trying to get in and out in a hurry, while competing with high school students. But the country has spoken and there is a new number one fast food chain, and Montana doesn't currently have any locations, but that is going to change.

According to USA Today's readers poll, Chick-Fil-A was on the top rated fast food chain in 2023 ,but this year there is a new chain on top of the list. Congratulations to Del Taco for being voted the best fast food chain in the nation for 2024. The bad news is that Montana doesn't have any Del Taco locations. The good news is that Del Taco is coming back to Montana.

We reported about Jack In The Box and Del Taco both planning expansions in Montana earlier this year. They are both owned by the same company.  At this time they haven't announced a specific time or locations for franchises. But Del Taco has listed what cities they are considering for expansion. According to Deltacofranshise.com the towns being considered by their "development franchise team" are:

  • Bozeman
  • Butte
  • Helena
  • Kalispell

It's interesting to see Billings, Great Falls and Missoula excluded from the list. Billings had a Del Taco at one time, but has been closed for over a decade. There is actually a petition on Change.org to bring it back to Billings. I have experienced all kinds of different fast food chains on my travels around the country. It looks like I will continue to have to travel to enjoy a Del Taco in the future when they finally open in Montana.
