It doesn't seem to matter what time of year you go for a walk around Montana, you will see people with their dogs out there too. Well, there are some times when it may not be a good idea to take your dog for a walk, especially when it is too cold.

We regularly get some cold snaps in Montana in our winters. Earlier this year we set some records for cold temperatures across the state. A lot of the state was in the double digits below freezing.

There are times when the weather isn't the best to take your dogs for a walk with you. It actually may not be as cold as you think. According to BetterVet.com, depending on the size of your dog, there are times when it is too cold and dangerous to take your dog outside for a walk.

Anything below 45 degrees starts to get uncomfortable for your four-legged friends. After that it becomes more dangerous for your dog to be out with you. There are tips for keeping your pets safe when out for a walk. The big one is to make sure they stay dry. If they get wet, they will get colder much quicker. Keep track of their paws. Snow and ice can hurt their paws. As the temperatures start to drop around the state, please be safe out there and take care of your dogs.
