Colorado Ski Lift Finds New Home in Montana
As Montana starts to transition into fall it will only be a matter of time before we have packed away our Halloween decorations and we start getting ready to carve down the slopes for another season of skiing and boarding in Montana.
I've known skiers and boarders who look forward to the ski season all year long, even when the temperature is hitting triple digits, they are thinking about the mountains and getting in those first runs of the season.
Montana has a wide variety of ski areas for shredders. From big resorts like Big Sky Resort and Whitefish, to much smaller ski hills like Blacktail Mountain or Showdown. There is some good news for skiers and boarders that will be hitting the slopes at Maverick Mountain. They will be getting a new chairlift and it's coming from Colorado.
Colorado Chairlift Heading to Montana
According to Aspen Public Radio, Montana will be getting Aspen Mountain's Gent's Ridge chairlift. The 39-year-old chairlift has the nickname "The Couch" because of the chair's soft cushions. This is a great opportunity for a community-oriented Montana ski area to improve its operation. Before the season starts you can check out the epic run that took place last year at Big Sky. The run was captured on a GoPro camera and earned the skier some cash.

The removal of the lift won't happen until this fall, possibly as late as Thanksgiving according to the report. In the meantime some of Montana's ski areas are having back to school sales and early season discounts on season passes for the 2024-2025. While we patiently wait for the snow to fly, it is good to know that a Montana ski area will benefit from a ski resort in Colorado and the ski season will be here before you know it.
