Fall has officially arrived in Montana with the Autumnal Equinox. The weather, for the time being, has been mild as we transition into fall. If you have spent any time in Montana, then you know the weather is going to change, that is for certain.

I don't envy anyone who tries to forecast the weather in Montana. It isn't an easy task to look ahead to the future and try to guess what kind of weather we will experience. Especially in the winter. According to the Old Farmer's Almanac, they are predicting milder temperatures and above average snowfall for the upcoming winter.

The National Weather Service (NOAA) has released their forecast for the upcoming winter, and the forecast differs a bit from the Old Farmer's Almanac. The forecast they released is for the months of January, February and March of 2025. According to both forecasts, Montana could see more than average precipitation, which would translate into an epic ski season.

The forecasts differ in their temperature predictions. The Old Farmer's Almanac is calling for a more mild winter as far as temperatures go, but NOAA is forecasting Montana leaning below average temperatures, so we may be seeing a cold and snowing winter in Montana.

Of course these are forecasts that are 4 to 6 months away and there is a lot that can happen between now and then. Some say that there is no way to forecast the weather in Montana further than just a few days out. Some Montana officials are actually wanting to try to change the weather in parts of Montana.
