Trader Joe's is a grocery chain that is ranked as one of the best in the country. Currently Montana doesn't have any locations. That looks like it is going to change, eventually.

People have been tracking new Trader Joe's store openings and seeing how they are getting closer to Montana. We have had reports of stores opening in Idaho with hopes they will be coming to Montana some day soon.

Well it looks like the will be coming to Montana after all, at least according to the Trader Joe's (Inside) podcast. Yes, they have podcast. The conversation on the episode from October 27th is an ICYMI episode "How Do I Get A Trader Joe's in My Neighborhood" hosted by Tara Miller and Matt Stone. A few things were revealed in the podcast, including their plans to expand in the "48 contiguous states, the 48 states that are hooked up together, with apologies to Alaska and Hawaii."

That means they will eventually be coming to Montana. As for specific locations, the hosts explained what the company looks for when choosing a new location: customer demand, access to the location, and—believe it or not—how much parking is available.

There have been social media campaigns started in various communities to try to attract a Trader Joe's. However, according to Miller, Trader Joe's doesn't really consider these campaigns when deciding on new locations:

Our decisions, they're business decisions. We're excited when people are excited about us, but that's really not what's driving the decisions about what brings a Trader Joe's.

According to the podcast, they are currently looking at "more than 1,000 sites." However, that doesn't mean a Trader Joe's will be popping up in all of those locations, and it won't happen quickly. The company is focusing on sustaining their growth. For now, we can only guess where they might open a location in Montana, but we know it's coming eventually.

If you are a Trader Joe's fan in Montana, the good news is, eventually you may not have to travel out of state for your Almond Windmill Cookies.
