Many people in Montana rely on Walmart for its low prices and the convenience of its numerous locations around the state. There’s good news for Walmart shoppers nationwide: the company has announced a same-day prescription delivery system, which will be rolled out across the country.

According to a Walmart press release, the program is currently available in six states—Arkansas, Missouri, New York, Nevada, South Carolina, and Wisconsin. By the end of 2025, it will expand to 49 states, reaching "tens of millions of customers."

Walmart already offers delivery services, and this new program will extend its reach to more than 86% of U.S. households. The press release highlights the convenience of having medication delivered alongside groceries and other Walmart products for millions of it's customers.

For example, if you’re feeling sick and want your favorite comfort food, you can have it delivered along with your medication—and even get a cozy blanket sent to your door with your order.

Walmart describes this as a "significant benefit to Walmart customers and members, particularly families, seniors, and those managing chronic conditions who do not have time for multiple trips."

There will be limitations on what can be delivered. Walmart is prioritizing safety and security. Measures like tamper-proof packaging and real-time order tracking through the app are already part of the system. Walmart+ members will receive free delivery, while non-members will have a $9.95 delivery charge.

Hopefully, this service will be introduced in Montana soon. There are a lot Montanans that stand to benefit from it.
