People were fired up, both positively and negatively, over Missoula getting a Whole Foods Market.

Some folks were stoked to get the high-end, expensive market, others were disappointed it wasn't a Trader Joe's, and others said, "Why the heck do we need one when we already have our local version, The Good Food Store?"

Let me share some of my favorite responses from social media, spelling and grammatical errors and all.

There was the good...

"Whole Foods is great" - Janice G.

"That’s wonderful, they’ll bring jobs with competitive wages and benefits!" - Andrea H.

There was the bad...

"We need to have a petition to get a Trader Joe's here. They were thinking of putting a store in before the pandemic. I keep asking if they are interested in coming to Missoula. It is up to the city of Missoula to make it inviting to remodel an existing building." - Geoffrey C.

"I would rather see a Traders Joe. Whole Foods is very expensive." - Sharon P.

"Whole paycheck" - Brienne S.

"Aka Whole Paycheck. I'd love to see an Aldi instead." -Bill W.

"With all the California people in Missoula anymore maybe they can afford the whole foods store." - Rhea L.

"I will stay loyal to the Good Food Store," - Alexia C.

And there was Richard M., with the best reference I could've asked for. Richard just posted this GIF:

Thank you, Richard. All I think about when I hear "Whole Foods" is the South Park episode about getting a Whole Foods.

I would say there was a little more negativity than positivity. There were a ton of Trader Joe's references and a lot of comments on how expensive Whole Foods is.
