Missoula’s First Baby of 2025 Delivered at Community Hospital
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - Happy New Year and Happy Birthday to Missoula’s first baby born in 2025 at Missoula Community Medical Center.
On Thursday, I spoke with Hollie Nagel, Chief Nursing Officer at Community Medical Center about the first baby born in Missoula in 2025.

“We were excited to be first, and it's always exciting when we do have that opportunity,” began Nagel. “We had our first baby at 12:47 yesterday morning (January 1, 2025), and it was a little boy, and his name is Alexander, and he weighed six pounds and nine ounces, and he measured 19 and a half inches, and he was born to proud parents, Jenny and Tyler.”
Nagel is justifiably proud of the Women’s and Children’s Department at Community Medical Center.

“Women's and Children's is just really a big cornerstone of the care that we provide, and women's and children's is just what we've always been known for,” she said. “We have an incredibly dedicated staff of labor and delivery nurses, mother-baby nurses, our NICU, (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) if a baby were to need specialized intensive care, as well as fantastic providers that just love to be here and love to do what they do, and really take a lot of pride in the work and the care that they provide.”
Nagel also touted that fact that Community has again been honored by a national neonatal program.
“We were excited two years ago now to be the third hospital in the country that actually received certification from the Joint Commission for advanced certification in Perinatal care,” she said. “They looked at everything from just a normal ‘laboring’ patient care to our high-risk patients to our NICU care, all the way across the spectrum. It really dives into whether you are providing good evidence-based care all the way across that continuum and how you are doing that.”
Community has Delivered Nearly 75,000 Babies in Missoula Since 1922
Nagel told KGVO that Community Medical Center has been delivering babies in Missoula since 1922.
“We definitely have a lot of personal connections to families in the community. We deliver ‘babies of babies’ that were delivered here, and there are definitely some generational stories that are happening.”
In fact, Nagel did some research and discovered that since 1922, Community Medical Center has delivered around 75,000 babies over more than 100 years in Missoula.
