Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On June 1, 2023, a Missoula Police Department Officer was present at the Missoula County Detention Facility for an unrelated matter. While the officer was there, an Adult Probation and Parole Officer advised that Amber Seitz was currently in custody at the Detention Facility for a probation violation.

While Seitz was in a holding cell, the PO observed her “nodding off” and had suspicions that she was under the influence of drugs. The PO ordered Seitz to provide a urine analysis under the authority of Seitz’s conditions of sentence. According to court documents, the results of the urine analysis showed negative for any illegal substances.

On the afternoon of May 31, 2023, Seitz was placed into custody at the Detention Facility, and upon arrival at the jail, staff conducted a full body scan of Seitz. The body scan showed what appeared to be a small cylindrical object appearing near or in Seitz’s pelvic region.

The PO and the officer deduced that Seitz arrived at the Probation and Parole Office with the knowledge of a possible urine analysis. With that knowledge, Seitz likely stored the cylindrical container with a urine sample that was clean of any intoxicants. The officer collected the images of the body scan conducted at the Detention Facility alongside the cylindrical container and stored both at the Missoula Police Department evidence locker.

Seitz is currently being charged with felony tampering with or fabricating physical evidence and probation violation. On June 2, 2023, Seitz made her initial appearance in Missoula Justice Court and her bond was set at $60,000.
