Gas Prices In Montana Drop To $3.00 — What To Expect Next
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - Average gas prices in Montana have increased in 25 out of 44 weeks, but have dropped seven weeks in a row. Patrick De Haan is the head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, and he provided the current numbers.
“Average gasoline prices in Montana have fallen 2.0 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.00 per gallon today,” De Haan said. “Prices in Montana are 10.5 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 9.1 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.”
As of Monday morning, most stations in Missoula had their prices set to $2.99 per gallon.

According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station in Montana was priced at $2.77 per gallon yesterday, while the most expensive was $3.49 per gallon.
Montana is currently ranked 16th in the U.S. when it comes to the average price of gas, which is two spots higher than last week.
"The national average price of gasoline has fallen 1.4 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $2.99 per gallon today,” De Haan said. “The national average is down 14.8 cents per gallon from a month ago and stands 6.6 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has increased 2.5 cents compared to a week ago and stands at $3.66 per gallon.”

The national average once again briefly dipped below the $3 per gallon mark, but De Haan said the drop will be short-lived.
“Gas prices are likely to rebound soon in the Great Lakes states due to ongoing refinery challenges, while a new snag at a California refinery may slow the pace of declines on the West Coast,” De Haan said. “To top it off, OPEC+ announced another boost to oil production for December over the weekend, though they also signaled a pause in further increases from January through March. For now, expect the national average to hover in the low-$3 range, potentially drifting lower once refinery issues are resolved.”
