On Saturday, our University of Montana Grizzlies will play their first Big Sky Conference game of the season against the Portland State Vikings. Kickoff at Washington-Grizzly Stadium is set for 2 p.m. Mountain time.

The Griz are 3-0 on the season after beating Indiana State last week 49-14. The Griz have outscored their first two opponents by a combined total of 120-21. Montana is also currently ranked No. 2 in the AFCA coaches poll and moved up to No. 2 in the Stats Perform media poll, making them the clear-cut second-ranked team in the nation.

The Vikings are 0-2 to start the year. They lost their first game to San Jose State 21-17 and then got thumped 52-6 by Washington from the PAC 12 on September 10. Portland State hasn’t played a game since then and they are looking to improve on their 4-4 conference record from last year.

Homecoming Weekend

This game is important for a number of reasons, but it is also homecoming weekend for our Montana Grizzlies. Fans will be happy to hear that the popular homecoming parade is BACK! The parade starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning.

However, due to ongoing construction on the Higgins Avenue bridge, this year's parade will have a different route. The parade will start at Sentinel High School and travels along South Avenue. It will end on South Campus and Dornblaser Field.

On Friday at 8 p.m., the annual Yell Night Pep Rally returns to the Oval. The event will feature the Grizzly Marching Band, Singing on the Steps, the lighting of the M, and an appearance from the Griz football team.

How to Watch and Listen

Saturday’s game will be the first to be shown on the Montana Television Network as part of the Big Sky Conference's new partnership with Scripps Television. In Missoula, the game will be shown on your local CBS station KPAX. ESPN+ will also stream the game nationwide with no blackouts.

"Voice of the Griz" Riley Corcoran and analyst Greg Sundberg will bring you the action live from Missoula right here on KGVO, the flagship station of the Grizzly Sports Radio Network. You can listen to the game on 98.3 FM, AM 1290, online at newstalkkgvo.com, or on the FREE KGVO App.

"Grizzly Gameday" starts two hours before kickoff each Saturday with the official pregame radio show featuring our own Denny Bedard and Scott Gurnsey, who then throw to Corcoran and Sundberg 30 minutes before kickoff. Bedard and Gurnsey will also host the official post-game show.
