On Thursday November 17th, pictures of damage at the 4100 Mullan Condominiums complex surfaced on social media. The aftermath of the incident saw a parking lot overhang collapse on several vehicles.

We spoke with the owner of one of these vehicles who declined to be named. When asked about how she was processing the incident:

I have insurance, I've been with [my insurance company] for 30 years, they've always taken care of me. I got a rental, and the claims process was easy. I have stuff that I need in my car but I can't get to it, it's not worth the risk. When they take this down I'll finally be able to get to it. I'm doing my best to stay positive but it's hard when something like this happens.

Thankfully, the damage did not cause any injuries. The owner also noted that the incident was caught on her neighbor's Ring cam further down the street, which could make it easier for police and insurance companies to identify the party responsible.

No further details about the incident have been released from the Missoula Police Department, however initial reports confirm a hit and run was involved. Residents told me that 4100 Condominiums have scheduled a crew to begin removing the debris on Monday, November 21st.

The impact of whatever hit these structure pillars must have been at significant speed and/or force, as you can see from the image below.

On the left is an unaffected pillar of another structure, the one on the right was uprooted from the concrete cylinder and metal brace which held the wooden beam in place. There were several pillars of the structure affected.

The parking structure is normally detached completely from the resident's homes, however it now rests on this roof eave, putting pressure on it. Residents still have access to their homes until the rubble is removed.
