Missoula’s Guide To Pumpkin Spice Lattes: City Brew Coffee
In my last review of a Missoula pumpkin spice latte, I told you my doctor was going to notice my blood sugar levels after beginning this adventure to try every PSL in the city. Well, that's happened. Thankfully the difference was negligible (I'm not hyperglycemic, yay!) so let's soldier up and continue. Not only are we trying to find every pumpkin-flavored cup of deliciousness in Missoula, we're also profiling local businesses at a nifty clip.
My next stop is City Brew Coffee on Brooks St in the south end of town. City Brew has twenty-three locations scattered all over Montana, however there's only 2 in Missoula. The other shop is downtown on West Broadway.

City Brew was featured in this article when we announced that many Missoula coffee shops were bringing back the PSLs in late August. They had plans to introduce a pumpkin puree but now it seems that their corporate management has decided to use the Monin simple syrup that is offered year-round for all their flavored drinks:

The cost for the City Brew PSL hasn't changed since August, the 12oz drink is still $4.95. It's slightly less expensive than Break Espresso's and a little more than Cup Of Joy's.

You can ask for an additional shot of flavoring in your beverage, but it might be extra.
I had my doubts about a PSL made with the syrup after tasting the real pumpkin purees made at Cup of Joy and at Break Espresso, but this one didn't disappoint. Instead of the pumpkin flavor present mostly in the aftertaste, this stuff hits you faster than a YouTuber can say "smash that like button!"
I couldn't say much about the temperature; it wasn't too hot or too lukewarm...right in that sweet spot where one can enjoy it for about 30 minutes before a noticeable difference, "Oh hey, this is too cold now, better swig the rest of it."
Speaking of not letting things go to waste...
I was surprised by City Brew. Although its a regional company with stands in 4 states, it has become a staple of Missoula fare on Broadway and on Brooks. Yes, there are smaller coffee shops in Missoula. And yes, I will visit them all by the end of this project. But I'm satisfied with the drink, the price, and the service. Is there anything else that matters?
