The 59th Annual Z100 Great Pumpkin Questions Are Answered!

The Z100 Great Pumpkin is back! According to the records from the crypt that have been handed down generations, this will be the 59th year of The Great Pumpkin! "How can that be since Z100 isn't even that old?" you may ask. The Great Pumpkin started on 1340 AM KYLT and according to the math that would have been in 1963. Years later when KZOQ was added to KYLT, the clues for the Great Pumpkin were on both radio stations. Over even more years and more changes the Great Pumpkin eventually became the "Z100 Great Pumpkin".

Big year next year

If the math is true, that means that next year the Great Pumpkin will be 60! It doesn't look a day over 30 if you ask me. Over the years we are always asked, "What does the Great Pumpkin look like?" Well here you go,

Mysterious

There is so much mystique and lore about the Great Pumpkin. I have heard stories about the "Pumpkin" since I was born. I have even heard stories from the "Pumpkin" himself. Still to this day I am not sure which are true or have been embellished over the years. From what I was told the very first prize of the Great Pumpkin was a case of "Dippity Do" hair gel. What do you expect from back in 1963? I have even heard stories of multiple "Great Pumpkins". That story is true.

What did he say?

From the beginning the clues have always been difficult to understand on the radio. That has been on purpose, because the identity of the "Pumpkin" has always been a secret. For years I worked along side the "Pumpkin" and had no idea it was him. Once I gained his trust he eventually told me that he was the "Pumpkin", and even then I didn't believe him for a few more years.

We don't know either

By the way the DJs over the years have never been told where the "Pumpkin" is hidden. So it doesn't matter how much you try to bribe us, we have no idea where it is. We have to try to follow the clues just like you, and just like you we get totally lost or are wrong a majority of the time. I remember when I was a kid my aunt Carol was convinced she knew where the pumpkin was. She packed us up and headed into the woods and we never found that elusive gourd. When the hiding place was reveled we found out we where nowhere near the actual hiding place. One year a dog found the pumpkin, if a dog can find it, so can you.

Rules

Over the years the Great Pumpkin has found it's way to many a hiding place in our area. Everyone is always interested in the "rules"  of the Great Pumpkin. What we have found is people sometimes seem to make up their own rules. Even from the beginning the rules haven't changed very much.

The Great Pumpkin is not buried, it is not fenced in, it is not next to any buildings, it is not at any cemetery, golf courses or the fairgrounds.

The Big Question

The biggest question of all is where is the Great Pumpkin hidden? Don't ask me because I don't know, but what I can tell you is the clues will start Friday October 21st. You will have to be listening and as always, good luck in your search for the Z100 Great Pumpkin.
