Jaden Decker says he's still getting settled after his move to Nashville, but didn't want to miss the opportunity to come home for a few shows.

The Western Montana native is moving into a new phase of his country career, relocating to the southeast so he can be closer to playing the many shows and concerts that are available if he's based out of the "Country Music Capitol of the World."

But he says this week has been a chance to reconnect with the Montana fans who have given him his start, as well as his friends and family.

I suspect it's also going to give him some more inspiration for the growing catalog of songs based around his experiences of growing up here.

Decker was among the lineup at the successful Darby Music Fest last week and stopped by "Daybreak with Dennis" on KYSS FM Wednesday to catch up, and even give us a preview of his next single, "Now That You're Gone:, which will drop toward the end of the month.

"It's kind of like the other songs that I've played when I've been in here the last couple times," Jaden told me. "It was cut down in Nashville at Zac Brown's Studio. This is a song that I wrote just kind of randomly one night like last year sometime. I loved it ever since I wrote it and was really happy getting to record it and getting ready to put it out this month. So I'm super happy for that."

"So it's kind of a switch up from 'Dirt Road Nights' ", Jaden explains, referring to his last single released in May. "It's just a break-up song, man. Kind of like a break-up anthem. You couldn't be happy that it's over."

Jaden's summer is far from over. He was playing a free show for his hometown fans at Benny's in Frenchtown Friday night, with a second free show at Lewis & Clark Brewing in Helena Saturday night.

"That's going to be fun. And then eventually getting back to cutting some new tracks and stuff. But really leaning into shows and stuff."

His timing could be perfect, as the Northwest music scene is getting a lot of well-deserved attention right now, with the breakouts of Zach Top and Tucker Wetmore and songs that have topped the charts.

Jaden says the recognition is building.

"We get a great reaction when we're up here. So I think that's also a huge part of it."
