If you have to spend any time in Missoula you have seen the familiar Blue Buses of Mountain Line rolling through an intersection or have had the chance to grab one at a U of M Griz game to shortcut the parking hassle and post-game traffic snarls. Great news for not only riders but everyone. Mountain Line has been awarded a $10 Million Dollar Federal grant to purchase new electric vehicles for the fleet.

Mountain Line shares information about the grant.

In a recent press release, Mountain Line CEO and general manager Corey Aldridge said “This award will greatly benefit the Missoula Valley airshed by helping Mountain Line further reduce its carbon footprint to keep our air clean. While public transportation is already part of the solution as we work toward a more sustainable future, we want to go even further by making Missoula’s public transportation as clean as possible.”

Adding More Buses to The Fleet

Federal Transit Administration awarded this $10 Million dollar Low or No Emissions grant which will hopefully bring the system fixed-route fleet 90% of the way by the end of this decade, to a zero-tailpipe-emissions commitment they target by 2035.

The Grants Keep Coming for The Program That is Working

This is the 4th and most significant low or no emissions grant that Mountain Line has received. In 2021 the service was the recipient of the Outstanding Public Transportation System of the Year,  not only for its commitment to zero emissions but rider safety improvements and the zero-fare program.
